Sometimes the sea in me is calm
Her waves are small, gently touching the shore to say hello
Sometimes she ebbs and flows like the tide, gently cleansing me inside
But sometimes the sea in me insists on rising
She gets too full of nostalgia and hope and longing and fear
Until she makes her way through me, tear by tear
Blurring my eyes, I’m caught in the storm for a little while,
But the rain soon passes, and on the other side, I can see the coast is clear
Blinking with eyes wide open, I can feel her warmth
As the sun comes out as a balm for my soul
